  • Bachelor degree (B. Sc.), Chemistry 2010 – Dmitry Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, Higher chemical college of Russian Academy of Sciences

Experience

Maria performed her B. Sc. and M. Sc. studies in Russia. During the summer of 2010 Maria was a trainee in the laboratory of organic synthesis of Professor Karol Grela in Poland where she had the opportunity to work on the synthesis of new complexes of ruthenium for applications in the metathesis transformation.

Her Ph. D. studies have been carried out under the supervision of professors Frédéric-Georges Fontaine and Freddy Kleitz of Laval University in Quebec city, where she successfully defended her thesis on July 13th 2017. Her principal research area was oriented toward the development of heterogeneous catalysts for applications in green chemistry, the capture and transformation of carbon dioxide.

During the last 7 years Maria published numerous publications related to the organic synthesis of carborane-derivatives, design of functionalized mesoporous materials for the direct amidation of fatty acids and for the synthesis of the cyclic carbonates. In addition, she has supervised undergraduate students during their summer internships, worked as professor assistant at the Department of Chemistry and Ste-Foy College. After graduation, Maria worked as a research professional in the laboratory of Prof Fontaine at Laval University until she got the position of R&D Chemist at Kemitek where she works since January 2018.
